CHANGE YOUR EXERCISE ROUTINE = BETTER RESULTS + LESS INJURIES
During our team meeting last week, we discussed the benefits of changing it up now & then. RISE athletes tend to gravitate towards the same weekly schedule. Believe it or not, we offer so many class options because of strategy to help our athletes achieve their goals faster, to gain strength and to be injury free.
We want our beginner athletes to stick with HIIT IT BASE, HIIT IT GROW & RISE Run Club Power because they are lower impact, predictable and easily modified. However, after a couple of months of consistency, we WANT these athletes to choose a varying weekly schedule.
RULE OF THUMB TO VARY YOUR SCHEDULE: Alternate between RISE Run Club & HIIT IT classes, aim for every 3rd or 4th day off (OFF = rest or RISE & Renew yoga) and take the class that you least enjoy because it's probably the one you need the most.
BENEFITS OF VARYING YOUR RISE CLASSES:
1. Prevents too much repetition that can cause overuse injuries. For example, pounding the treads 5 days each week will work the same muscles exactly the same way repeatedly for hours. Instead, 3 days of RRC + 2 days of HIIT IT is a more balanced schedule.
2. Rotating muscle groups will ensure total body strength + again reducing chances for injuries, improve core stability and make you a well balanced athlete.
3. Encourages exercise in different planes of movement. Research tells us that we should move our bodies in multiple directions to increase agility and for functional fitness. Change it up, surprise your body and reap the benefits of "muscle memory."
What do you think? Will you change your schedule this week?
Give it a try & you might be surprised with the newfound sore muscles, the strength gains, the body fat loss, the increase in speed & agility and more!
