It's our favorite time of year: RISE ATHLETE Spotlights!
These athletes are real people taking care of their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, AND leading our team in the studio daily. FIRST UP TO BAT: JASON T. [On Deck: DAVID S]
Q: What made you change your path in 2018? - I finally admitted to myself that I needed help. I had been 'in shape' and out of shape a lot over the years, belonged to gyms, ran a few half marathons, and really did it all on my own, but was in kind of a funk this past year and got to my heaviest point I'd even been. It was always in the back of my mind to get my act together and I was even considering a personal trainer and then RISE was suggested to me.
Q: Why RISE? - It was recommended to me and since I know several folks that already belong it seemed like a good choice. Now I love it and am pretty much addicted. The amount of knowledge among the trainers continues to amaze me and even though we're doing the same types of classes each week, they never seem to be the same. I never would have thought I'd be getting up to work out at 5:30am but here we are and I love it.
Q: What have you learned about yourself? - That, even in my 40s, I can still push myself. And...that I can reach new heights. I'm a better runner now than I ever was before and that really wasn't even my main goal when joining RISE. Oh...and I learned that it's ok to have help and have others push you to be better when it comes to health and exercise.
Q: What were your initial goals? How have your goals transformed over time? - I wanted to lose weight of course, but be a healthier person all around. I needed to re-learn good exercise habits, eating habits, etc. I think I've done that, and now I'm getting the running bug back which I'm excited about.
Q: What's your favorite class? Favorite exercise? Least favorite exercise? - Favorite is RRC Precision. Jess and that class kick my a** each week but for some reason I keep going back for more. Russian Twists suck. Burpees can suck it too.
Q: What do you want others to know? - They can do it, just need that first step. Getting up at 4:45am to go to a 5:30am workout is a MAJOR effort but as soon as you leave after that morning workout you feel like a million bucks and the day is yours. RISE Fitness Community is just that...a community and I can't think of a better community for reaching your fitness goals.
Thank you Jason, for being a part of RISE. You came into RISE and we immediately knew that there was no turning back. You made the decision to take care of yourself so that you can do what you love: play music and be with your family. You show up even when you aren't sure you want to and because of it, you are stronger than ever.
