WE ALL BEGIN SOMEWHERE
I remember my first run after my second baby. My doc hadn't released me yet (don't freak out, she did a day later), but I was desperate. Desperate to have relief from the fatigue, relief from taking care of everyone but myself, and relief from just thinking about re-starting. I made it .5miles before stopping to walk [and cry]. Fast forward 2 months and I managed to run 2 miles straight. Day by day I walked out the front door, put one foot in front of the other and told myself that I had a choice: "I can skip it and stay where I'm at or I can show up for myself even if it hurts." Every step hurt. Every step was worth it.
As we approach a new decade, my hope for you is that you know that EVERYONE starts and re-starts. When you flip the switch and make the commitment to take care of your health for the first time in a while, it hurts. It hurts, but it is worth it because you will grow. As your body becomes stronger, YOU WILL learn new things about yourself and YOU WILL gain a new perspective. YOU WILL have days when you don't know if you have it in you. But if you show up anyway, things will get better.
So here is my challenge to you, beginner: be brave. Write down how crappy you feel in this moment, write down what you want to feel like when go to bed at night, write down how you can make yourself proud, write down what you dream of in 2020 (if you weren't scared). This life is a hard one, but you don't have to do it alone or hiding from the start line.
Commit. And we will help you.
