It's our favorite time of year: RISE ATHLETE Spotlights!
These athletes are real people taking care of their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, AND leading our team in the studio daily. NEXT UP TO BAT: DAVID S. [On Deck: KELLY K]
Q: What made you change your path in 2018? My wife had been coming and was loving it. Also, after a big ankle injury last 2017, I was losing fitness and motivation to start back up. RISE was the perfect environment.
Q: Why RISE? My wife. And I love running!
Q: What have you learned about yourself? I can do more than I thought i could. At 43 I am faster now than I’ve ever been. I’m stronger. And I’m feeling fantastic about overall health, thanks largely to RISE!
Q: What were your initial goals? How have your goals transformed over time? Initially just wanted to run without injury. Now, I see the benefit of total body strength for running and overall health.
Q: What's your favorite class? Favorite exercise? Least favorite exercise? I love them all. Probably RRC Power the most, followed closely by HIIT IT GROW. Do NOT like burpees.
Q: What do you want others to know? RISE is more than just a gym. The trainers are all amazing. Non judgemental, encouraging, and knowledgeable. Even though I’m running less miles than before, because of strength training and the type of running at RISE, I am getting faster and stronger. I’ve never run negative splits before, and now do it without trying. I couldn’t be happier with my workout progress. AND, no more ankle injury!
If you've ever seen this guy in the studio, you know what a joyous person he is. He is grounded in faith, enjoys teamwork, and will jump at the chance to laugh at himself. Thank you, David, for making everyone lighten up a little bit, follow in your path of purpose, and for showing up for your own health this year. We are proud to stand beside you as your teammates AND hopefully watch you PR in a race someday soon.
*David and his wife Kathy are the pastors of @614_church. You should see them workout together - SWOON!
