Today I asked my classes, "What are you so afraid of?" Because FEAR IS A LIAR!
...Then I answered my own question: 📣I'm afraid of what I'm about to tell you and it has to do with a 6% incline. On November 3 this year I will run up the Verrazano bridge in New York City to begin 26.2 miles in honor of the National Hemophilia Foundation and each step will be for my two brothers who have mild hemophilia. The first mile is up a 6% incline and then after that I'll run 25 more miles on my sister-in-law's stomping grounds & by her side!
🎽I'm scared. I'm inspired. I'm ready to be my best self for the first time in two years. I want to show my girls that we can do hard things and that hard things are worth the battle. I want to be the body: to run to show my brothers that I will do anything for them. I WILL run strong. I CAN be better than I've ever been. I AM scared and I LIKE IT. 🔥
The work starts today for a journey that will change, challenge, and inspire me: For the last 3 years I have been an interval trained athlete with a side of running. This year, I am going to transition to a runner with a side of interval training. The flip sounds slight, but for an athlete who would prefer to squat and burpee all day, there is work that I need to do to be ready to rock. I will take you along with me every step of the way. In the meantime, will you run beside me? Will you give me a fist bump for overcoming? Will you be my teammates?
