When Summer arrives, RISE trainers can easily pick out "the grinders." Those athletes who make no excuses when taking care of themselves: no matter the season, no matter their schedule changes and no matter what is going on, they show up to take care of their health. They know that their workout is their oxygen mask and that they must put theirs on first if they want to be able to take care of everyone and everything else. These athletes show up even on the days where it might feel like a grind and because of this consistency set bigger and bigger goals as time goes on. One of these RISE athletes is Adam M. Adam, thank you for joining our team a few months ago. We can't wait to RUN STRONG with you this Summer & Fall in preparation for your marathon!
Q: What inspired you to take care of your health and work towards a higher fitness level? Fitness has always been important to me. My workout routine since I stopped playing competitive sports basically consisted of some short interval running and weight lifting. In the months leading up to joining RISE I felt I really wasn’t improving my physical health, I was just maintaining it. To get out of the rut and take it up to the next level I needed to make change.
Q: What's the biggest challenge in reaching your goals? Back in October I completed my first marathon. About 4 weeks before the race I was diagnosed with Patellar tendinitis and had to stop training. I decided to go ahead and run the race, but my lack of training during those final weeks caught up to me around mile 16. I did finish the race, but well behind the time I set out to achieve. The frustration of that day motivates me to want to run another marathon. My biggest challenge will be staying healthy and trusting the training.
Q: What is your favorite exercise? Anything but Turkish Get-Ups.
Q: Why RISE? My wife made me! Kidding of course. I learned the hard way what happens when you take a haphazard approach to marathon training. While there is no guaranty I will avoid another injury, I chose RISE in order to build the best possible foundation heading into training. This, combined with the focused and disciplined marathon training RISE provides gives me the best chance to remain injury free and achieve my goal.
