This RISE Original Athlete Spotlight is a special one for us. It's has been a long time coming: 6 years of hard work, leadership, weight loss, half marathon training rounds, cheerleading and teamwork. When Heather first walked in for a HIIT IT workout all of those years ago, she had just had her third son, and wasn't sure that this would be a good fit for her life. What she soon realized was that this was her only daily opportunity for self care. This was what she needed to find teammates, even more purpose in her days, and strength physically & mentally. Heather has transformed over the last few years physically and has been a leader in our studio from the beginning. She's the first one to arrive for 5:30am classes and has an eye for details (especially if a trainer forgets the next exercise ;) ). Heather, thank you for being a RISE OG & for sticking with this team through it all. *If you are looking for someone to shout your name this Fall at a race, she's your girl. Just wear your RISE shirt so that she can find you!
What gets you out of bed first thing in the morning?
I have never left a workout at RISE and regretted waking up for it. I leave feeling energized, accomplished, and alive and ready to be a better me.
Why is your health your top priority?
I feel better physically and emotionally when I exercise. I love the 5:30am classes because I can take time for myself before anyone needs anything from me.
What exercise do you LOVE? What exercise do you LOVE to hate?
Burpees and turkish get ups bc they are a great total body exercise. I LOVE to hate seal jacks and high knee heel heel cardio - both can get my heart rate through the ceiling.
What is your favorite memory as a RISE athlete?
I am most grateful for the sense of community that RISE has built. Every time I run a race, I love seeing RISE athletes and their families cheering along the route. It is so motivating to hear someone cheer for you, shout your name and provide a sound bite of encouraging words...and it's always right when you need it in the race to keep going (and never ring the bell)! I am so appreciative of the support and look forward to returning the encouragement to other athletes in their upcoming races.
